LIVE CD - AVAILABLE IN THE STORE
The Jerry 'Hot Rod' DeMink Band is a group of guys with a passion for music and motivation to display it. Their music is a mix of Rockabilly, Blues, Rock and Roll and Hillbilly Gospel, with a sound that's as diverse as Johnny Cash to Jimi Hendrix. San Diego is their home though they can be found playing all over Southern California. Catch them at one of their GIGS or on the VIDS page.

A fantastic display of three musicians who definitely know they're instruments. The band was on a professional level without a doubt. The quality of music that was displayed at the Downtown Cafe is something that the San Diego music scene has been in short supply. Without a doubt I will be looking forward to seeing this talented band again.

Balancing Family and Music Career

I know so many musicians that have had the hardest time balancing family with music. They are either on the road too much or spend so much time playing gigs that they miss out on the greatest thing life has to offer. I wanted a music career so bad that I avoided going too far with relationships. That selfishness led to a lot of hurt people. Including myself. Early on people would tell me how they used to do what I did but then they got married and had to get a "real" job. That scared me and I vowed… Read more

Batteries For Stomp Boxes

I don't like to use pedal effects (or stomp boxes) for my guitar because they get in the way of my tone. I picked my guitars based on the sound they made before I even plugged them in. I try to keep as much of that purity in the final sound as possible. I like the amp to do all the coloring of the tone. Straight into the amp is really the best way to get a pure tone. Too many cords take away tone as well. And I ditched my wireless when I realized how much it changed my sound. With that said, I do use… Read more

Performing Live

I've always loved performing live and I've gotten very comfortable with it over the years.  Especially when I was on the road with Billy Bacon and the Forbidden Pigs.  Lately though, I've had that nervous excitement that you get when you're about to go on stage for a big performance.  That's because I am so excited about the way my band is sounding that I'm bubbling over with anticipation.  You see, we get to do a lot of improvising and go into spontaneous jams that pull out the creativity that's locked… Read more
