The Jerry 'Hot Rod' DeMink Band

NEW LIVE CD - NOW AVAILABLE IN THE STORE

The Jerry 'Hot Rod' DeMink Band is a group of guys with a passion for music and motivation to display it. Their music is a mix of Rockabilly, Blues, Rock and Roll and Hillbilly Gospel, with a sound that's as diverse as Johnny Cash to Jimi Hendrix. San Diego is their home though they can be found playing all over Southern California. Catch them at one of their GIGS or on the VIDS page.

Batteries For Stomp Boxes

I don't like to use pedal effects (or stomp boxes) for my guitar because they get in the way of my tone. I picked my guitars based on the sound they made before I even plugged them in. Too many cords take away tone as well. And I ditched my wireless when I realized how much it changed my sound. With that said, I do use one …

Performing Live

I've always loved performing live and I've gotten very comfortable with it over the years.  Especially when I was on the road with Billy Bacon and the Forbidden Pigs.  Lately though, I've had that nervous excitement that you get when you're about to go on stage for a big performance.  That's because I am so excited about the way my band is sounding that I'm bubbling over with anticipation.  You see, we get to do a lot of improvising and go into spontaneous jams that pull out the creativity that's locked deep within our souls.  There's a real chemistry between Danny, Andy and I that brings out the best in us.  Some of that came out on our CD but it's always evolving and always new.  Come to a gig and have a listen.  I'm loving this band!

Weekly Blog Coming Soon

I intend to write a weekly blog on anything from guitar gear to gigs and travel tips.  Hope you'll tune in.
